Social Enterprises and Economic Development

As part of the curriculum, Soka offers students the opportunity to apply for travel grants to study any chosen topic during a one-month intensive course. Together with my professor Junyi Liu and 11 other students, we presented the project to study the impact of social enterprises on economic development in different cities. The class was divided into two years. The first year, we went to San Francisco and visited companies such as Google, Give Something Back, and Salesforce. The second year we were awarded a travel grant and visited the Greater Bay Area region. In two weeks, we visited Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macau. I was one of 5 students who had the opportunity to participate in both classes.

On our way to win the debate

SEED II: Professor Junyi Liu organized a debate against Korean students from .... The debate topic was Google's dominance in the world and whether the company had a monopoly. As part of Soka's debate team, we were assigned to support that Google's dominance was a danger to the world. We ultimately won the debate. In the Great Bay Area we visited Hengli Digital, Green Monday, Meyer Manufacturing, Hang Seng University, Lignan University, and Macau Finance Department, among others.
